The “Grotte Chauvet 2”

A site that is one of its kind in the world where thrills and emotions are guaranteed!

The Grotte Chauvet 2 is a replica of the decorated cave of Pont d’Arc, known as the "Chauvet Cave” which has been granted UNESCO World Heritage status.

It’s the 1st art gallery to showcase the 36,000-year-old art and it is located just a few kilometres from the original.

Discovered in 1994 by Jean Marie Chauvet and his two friends, Éliette Brunel and Christian Hillaire, caving enthusiasts, this discovery proved to be an important historical treasure and the oldest decorated cave on Earth.

The Chauvet Cave is located at the entrance to the Gorges de l’Ardèche, near the Pont d’Arc, just 25km from the Ciela Village Domaine le Pommier campsite. The entrance to the cave is on a cliff in the Cirque d'Estre and is now protected by a reinforced steel door.

The “Caverne du Pont d’Arc” is open to the public. Booking is compulsory and can be done online on the website www.cavernedupontdarc.fr; for all information, please contact the Caverne du Pont d’Arc on +33 (0)4 75 94 39 40.
